Personality: Takashi Shirogane, or 'Shiro', as he's referred to by everyone he meets, can be summed up very easily with his leadership skills. This can't be stressed enough, and is the main reason he gets to be the top dog of his group of paladins, giving him the skills necessary to pilot the Black Lion. Initial impressions of Shiro leave people feeling that he's a collected, level headed person, and those qualities make him a competent leader, as it evokes an innate sense of trust in those under his wing, and creates a sense of unity among them. He's decisive. He knows how to make tough calls in unclear situations with certainty, and is often turned to for valuable input and solutions when under pressure.

His leadership skills aren't anything new, as he's first shown as the leader of an expedition to a moon of Pluto, and shortly after his crew being taken as prisoners of an intergalactic war, he takes multiple stands in order to set a path for his crewmates to follow. As his story moves on, and he's held prisoner for longer and longer, his actions and bravery come out at full force out of necessity. His initiative is the best way to ensure his own survival, and that of the other prisoners. The Shiro that escapes imprisonment is a markedly different Shiro from the one that was initially captured.

While leadership is a primary facet of Shiro's personality, it is only one of many. While he truly is an outstanding force in any group, and even on a duo basis, when left on his own he tends to show some pretty different sides. He's a sympathetic person, a trait which was not lost after the prolonged suffering he went through at enemy hands, and perhaps even made it more apparent. While he is commanding, and capable of making tough decisions in a pinch, he's neither cruel nor cold for it, and his heart always lies in finding the best and safest route for those he's in charge of. The path of danger is only one chosen when no other foreseeable options are available, or when the safety of someone he cares about is gravely compromised. For example, the leader of the paladins, Princess Allura, is taken hostage by the same forces that had imprisoned him earlier, and used as bait after a mission fails to go as planned. Rather than having her captive for an extended amount of time, he bends to the idea of going on a rescue mission into what is essentially the enemy's war base. He had absolutely forbid this in an earlier episode, but given the circumstances, it was not only the most reasonable option, but the most compassionate one as well. His plans are careful ones, with great consideration taken as often as possible.

Which leads to another important character trait! While he's usually very good at making quick calls, he's always looking to understand the full scope of a situation as much as he can before doing so. An uninformed decision is a foolish one, of course, and far be it from him to make a foolish call that would put people in danger. This quality extends past his exploits as a leader, too. On a person to person basis, he tends to withhold judgement of a person's character, actions, or declarations, until he understands well enough what may have brought them about. To this end, he's very patient with people, allowing himself to be a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on when things get difficult.

For all his listening and compassion and understanding, there are parts of himself that he simply will not willingly share in kind. Shiro's time as a war prisoner did take a massive, noticeable toll on who he is as a person. His forward moving personality can be stopped dead in its tracks with the right trigger, and if left alone in stressful situations, his mind can become frayed and unwind. A frontal attack from a familiar weapon leaves him frozen in place at one point, and while attempting to extract information from a comatose enemy soldier, he begins hallucinating that the prisoner is very much awake and very much targeting at his worries and insecurities (and then Shiro attempts to punch the guy through a thick glass barrier and promptly launches him into space afterward like that was a good idea or something). Every so often, in the right circumstances, one of his teammates will find him stuck in shock, recalling something horrific, but when called on it, he simply shakes it and any concern off with a quick explanation. It's the sort of side to him that many people don't ever get to see, as he's very careful about how he conducts himself in an attempt to save face in front of his teammates.

For all that his anguish has warped him, he does all he can to take what it has left him with and own it to the best of his abilities. While his imprisonment put him in massively stressful and horrifying scenarios, he uses he knowledge he gained during that time to his and the team's advantage. He grew a good sense for picking up on patterns, for pinpointing enemy weaknesses, for finding the most practical way out of a situation. Knowledge gained through having to live under the enemy's thumb came in useful for turning against them. The arm he lost was replaced with a cybernetic enhancement, in order to make him a weapon to be used for them, which he takes with him to use against them instead. It's the kind of tenacity that allows a person to survive unthinkable ordeals.

Overall, it's pretty easy to draw a comparison between Shiro and his Lion. The Black Lion is the decisive head of Voltron, the weapon that's created when all five of the Lions combine. It's the leader of the bunch, and is given the title of 'guardian of the sky'. Shiro, like the sky, is an interesting pairing of constant yet ever changing, vast, and always present. Clear and sunny, or dark and stormy. Something you can always count on to be there.

tl;dr Shiro is a Tired and Stressed man please give him a nap.

Debt:
Officially, Shiro's name will be signed away under the impression that the Witch can tell him how to find Matt and Samuel Holt, though it comes about in something of a flurry. His contract is drafted and presented in a short enough time frame after being tossed out of a wormhole that he doesn't completely register what's going on as something other than a bizarre dream, therefore making his stay here fall under the category of trickery on the Witch's part.

Previous Game Info: N/A

Inventory: His paladin armor, and I guess you'd also count his giant robotlion??

Abilities: Other than being a super boss leader, Shiro has impressive abilities in hand-to-hand combat. As far as something more than mundane, his prosthetic arm is chock-full of weird magical alien technology, making it capable of acting as a power source for said alien technology, and more practically is durable to an unreal degree and capable of becoming a high-energy weapon capable of slicing through various tough materials with ease.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Good leadership skills are basically the bread and butter of Shiro's character base. He's the sort of person who has the unwavering and natural trust of those he's in charge of, and regularly showcases that their faith is completely warranted.
+ Clever and analytical, he's able to latch on to any shred of information he can and use it to its fullest. Comes in handy for escaping imprisonment and for uncovering secret identities of your crew.
+ Physically strong and agile, while this is a trait bred into him more through necessity than nature, it comes in incredibly handy on a regular basis. He's good to have around in a fight!
+ Patience and wisdom are also heavily on his side. He knows the right things to say in most situations, and as long as it's a problem not brought on by himself, his clarity is helpful in any troubling situation!
+ Good-natured, as can be seen in his interactions with the rest of the team, and even in the brief scene we see of him before all the crazy nonsense goes down.
- Dependent, as far his grip on his senses is concerned. When he's around other people, he's a paragon of strength! When he's left to ruminate on his own for too long... not so much.
- Physical scarring, stress and abuse is clear on his person, as his year-long stay in space-jail earned him some pretty visible external scarring, the stress of it shocking part of his hair white, and also at some point he lost an arm?? What the fuck???
- Mental scarring, he displays a lot of clear signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in his inability to clearly recall events from his imprisonment and his tendencies toward flashbacks and occasional bouts of hysteria when the right mines are stepped on.
- Restless and prone to worrying, and while it's for good reason, it's the kind of thing that can create a lot of mental fatigue. Dude hardly ever relaxes.
- Secretive, though not in a general sense. It's incredibly rare that he'll show any signs of suffering or weakness in front of others, and if he does, it's usually due to circumstances beyond his control. The kind of trauma he went through, moments of self-doubt and loathing, all of those instances are kept locked tightly away from people he would otherwise trust.

(Gently pulling a prompt out of the test drive and expanding it ye ye ye)

It's important, when searching and evading, to know the sorts of movements your opponent is likely to take. Do they have any patterns to be aware of? Any habits that could be used to turn things in your favor? It's hard to gather that sort of information when you're expected to do it right off the bat, but Kuro perseveres. It's what he does, after all, it's what he's good at. Trekking forwards, and fighting toward victory.

He does have to admit, in this particular scenario, he is a bit... out of his element. The situation is easy enough to fit himself in to, but having to do as much in a dense forest is a new experience entirely. His opponent, not some gladiator, or massive monster bent on total destruction of everything around it, but a child. A simple, thrill seeking, non-human child. It's honestly really hard to wrap his mind around the idea that these are spirits he's dealing with, it really all feels easier to digest when he thinks of them as aliens instead, but there's definitely a constant to all young creatures, human or otherwise. The need to play, the need to have fun...

The need to give adults the runaround in the name of a good time.

His target is a wily little kitsune, who has dragged him into a one-on-one game of hide and seek. Every time it feels like he's gotten close to her, however, some little rustling, a twig snapping, or a feeling of eyes on him, gives him the clue that she's changed locations.

"Isn't it against the rules to move around?"

His voice is clear, stern, but doesn't hold a scolding tone. It's just a gentle reminder of the rules, and if she's bending them, then it means his victory is going to be an even greater challenge. Kids will do as they please, and a crafty kid will use that to their advantage. His words are met with a gentle giggle from somewhere nearby. Somewhere within sight, for cure...

Using what resources he has at hand, he picks a stone up from the ground, giving it a decent toss in the direction of a much larger rock, so that it skips and falls neatly off to the left of it. A distraction! A clever ruse! Kuro uses the sounds of the rock thumping against the ground as cover to sneak in from the other side, tapping the distracted spirit lightly on the head before she realizes what's going on and vanishes from sight again.

"Got you!"
